February 28, 2012 Proclamed A Bag's Life Day
WHEREAS
Using minimum resources, thousands of recyclable plastic bags are manufactured in the United States every year; and
WHEREAS
It is important to reduce, reuse and recycle, and to make responsible choices regarding waste reduction. In Georgia, there is an effective infrastructure in place to recycle plastic bags through retailer take-back collection systems; and
WHEREAS
Keep Georgia Beautiful along with the Georgia Recycling Coalition, the Georgia Food Industry Association, and the American Chemistry Council has created an educational campaign called “A Bags Life” to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic bags in a responsible manner. “A Bag’s Life” kicks off on February 28, 2012, and strives to be a powerful education tool advocating for a clean and beautiful state; and
WHEREAS
Keep Georgia Beautiful, the Georgia Recycling Coalition, the Georgia Food Industry Association, and the American Chemistry Council are to be commended for organizing and heading “A Bags Life” in an effort to help keep Georgia clean and beautiful; now
THEREFORE
I, NATHAN DEAL, Governor of the State of Georgia, do hereby proclaim February 28, 2012, as A BAG’S LIFE DAY in Georgia, and encourage all Georgia citizens to be responsible in their waste reduction efforts.
In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Executive Department to be affixed this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve.
